Default Team fortress 2 PC

This is a question for those of you who play this.

What are the pros and cons.

Is there a fee besides box value?

It says it WAS balanced but is it really?

Does it set you up in random teams or is it a combination of choosing or random.

Do you communicate with the others by typing or talking?

This is all for the PC version. TY

Pro: Good game
Con: If you suck you die a lot

lulz. Moving right along...

No fees after box fee, it's balanced better than Guild Wars ever will be, you pick Red or Blue and hope your friends are smart enough to pick that team too, you can type or talk (talking being easier and more efficient of course).

Buy it. Play it. Love it.

Could you tell me a little about the community? Is it as hard to get into as guild wars pvp (Its ruthless lol) and also can you tell me a little about the classes in a way that a gw player will understand them? I saw the "Meet the" movies but I would like a further explanation if possible, Looks like a solid game so far.

Easy to get into, you just join a server and pick a class/team.

Classes;

Heavy = Big damage, takes little damage, moves slow
Soldier = Best. Good damage, good absorption.
Scout = Low damage, moves REAL fast and has double jump, caps points 2x as fast
Spy = Can turn invisible, can disguise as other team. Has a knife to backstab, desert eagle (?) for shooting.
Medic = Heals, has Uber which is godmode for a certain amount of time that I forget
Demoman = Grenade Launcher + Sticky Grenades. Defensive, but very large damage output and good movement speed etc
Pyro = Flamethrower + Shotgun, very good at close range, good damage absorption and movement speed
Engineer = makes Sentry Guns and Teleporters and Dispenser for health/ammo
Sniper = self explanatory, has a sniper rifle and submachine gun.

TF2, like most (if not all) First Person Shooters, is as easy to get into as starting up the game and picking a server (and there are thousands to pick from when it comes to TF2). You don't have to worry about getting into guilds, or being invited to groups to do things, because it's based around pick-up-and-go gameplay (much like GW PvP was supposed to be before it became the bloated beast it is now). Now, you will probably get called some nasty names if you get on a server with a lot of really good players and have no clue what you are doing, but it's all part of the learning experience so don't worry about it and just focus on getting better at aiming and whatnot.

As for classes explained to a GW player... That's a bit difficult to do, for me. One could say that the Medic is a Monk with a +4 Mending, Vital Blessing, and a 100% reduction Prot Spirit, but it's a rough comparison, at best. Shooters don't really work the same way as RPGs, but Fenix did a fairly accurate job of comparing the classes, I think, except for calling the revolver a goddamn desert eagle. But he's a CS scrub, what can you do.

I don't know if Exteel counts as an FPS, if you have no first person view...

Gamecube and 64 games usually don't give you ANY experience when it comes to FPS. Simply because controls are less accurate...

I think I'll have to one day try TF 2. Maybe if WAR bores me, dunno. Still, I'm renewing my sub.

TF2 is the best multiplayer out there at the moment. The classes are all awesome and balanced but have very different play styles. Personally I find demomen, heavys and engineers boring, but many people play with them because they are pretty effective.

The spy is the best and most unique class ever. I can not think of any fps game that has a class even remotely like the spy. The most satisfying thing in the world is the sound that the game makes when you successfully back stab.

Oh and the game comes with built in voice chat so no need to run any vent or teamspeak.

The game is horrible, it doesn't look realistic at all. The objectives and maps are ridiculous and as for balance CRITROCKETSCRITROCKETSCRITROCKETS but otherwise enjoyable.

I'm a big fan. I've been playing since the day it came out. It's got a lot of well established communities.

I can't speak for the friendliness of other countries, but there's a lot of friendly competition going on in the Australian servers. Good clans are out and it's getting quite competitive.

There are constant updates, and they're always bringing in new maps and achievements. Not to mention player created maps as well. It's good value for money if you enjoy online FPS's

Hmm. Guess I'll wait when there will be a weekend with $10 TF2, like they did with CSS once.

AAAACCHHHIIIEEEVVEEEMEEENNTTTSSS. The most achievements you get the better you can make your weapons. Made the game kinda fun, but kinda bad doing it since people just make achievement servers and kill bots.

It's really hard to find a game as fun, balanced, easy to get into, and in-depth as TF2. One of the best games I've played in a very long time.

P.S. Crit rockets can be turned off in clan servers, and are usually off in wars. Only Public Servers have Crits on these days.

Valve has been updating all the different classes giving them new weapon load-outs. So far this has included the Medic, Pyro, and the Heavy which have received their updates. Recently Vlave has announced that they will not be adding in any more updates for TF2 until next year. The reason behind this is because of their other game called Left 4 Dead which will becoming out next month.

TF2 is epic lulz in an FPS. There is just something satisfying about seeing scouts go past at a gazillion miles an hour screaming "FIRE FIRE IM ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Achievements are fun and challenging, and all of the classes are worth the time to play.

For $20 (Canadian), it is totally worth it.

I have an integrated graphics card (945GM woe is me) for my laptop. Valve was supposed to release a patch that vastly improved the compatibility of TF2 with it. Anyone know if they ever released it?

Here, here. I understand you, brother.

Damn it, the more I read/watch about this game, the more I'm starting to like it.
